Getting Our Bearings

Today was a day to get organized.  We spent the morning picking up necessities (groceries, cash, forgotten items etc.) I enjoyed strolling through the grocery store since it provides some insight into the country you are visiting.  What do most people eat, and what kind of influences are there from different cuisines? I saw plenty of UK canned goods, chicken and local fruits.  I also saw potatoes form Idaho. For those who have travelled to Barbados, you will recognize these 2 items:

Can you taste the macaroni pie and beer now?

This afternoon we prepared for tomorrow - our first day at the college.  The students are doing a presentation and I am teaching a lesson in entrepreneurship.  I think we are ready.  We also had a chance to walk the beach and swim....oh my!  So beautiful.  I didn't get a chance to take a photo of the beach but it is gorgeous, and is lined with almond trees for shade.  The beach has a couple of small resorts on it but nothing like the large ones you see in Cuba/DR/Mexico and other popular southern destinations.  Our hotel is small with a handful of couples staying here.  It is the end of the season so there are not many folks around.

Here is a short article about the beach:

Hmm... Almond tress everywhere doesn't sound like a good destination for me :(
